Brendan John Geier, a 26-year-old from Madison, New Jersey, has been charged with assaulting federal officers during protests outside the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, New Jersey. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Geier was part of a group blocking the road when ICE officers instructed them to disperse. The group allegedly engaged violently with the officers, leading to Geier kicking and biting two officers, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment.
Geier faces charges of assaulting federal officers and causing bodily injury. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cari Fais on May 30, 2026. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that attacks on ICE officers would not be tolerated, emphasizing the need for accountability for such actions.
