The rules we hold ourselves to.
Corrections
When we make a material error — a misstated fact, a missing attribution, a meaning-changing distortion in a rewrite — we issue a public correction. Corrections are:
- Attached to the article in question, visible at the top of that article forever.
- Listed publicly in our corrections archive with timestamps and the specific change.
- Permanent. We don't quietly delete or rewrite past errors. The original incorrect text and the correction both stand.
- Reportable by anyone via the corrections inbox. We aim to acknowledge within 24 hours.
AI & disclosure
Neutral rewrites on this site are generated by a large language model under our debiasing prompt. We disclose this on every article and in our methodology. The original article from the source outlet is always one click away.
We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, facts, or attribution. We do not generate articles from nothing — every story on Pure Report traces back to a real source URL we ingested.
Detection and analysis pages (genome map, echo radar, sentiment arbitrage) use deterministic statistical methods, not generative AI. The bias and confidence scores are computed by the model during the rewrite step and disclosed alongside the article.
Conflicts of interest
Pure Report does not accept paid placements, sponsored content, or undisclosed advertising inside news pages. Where we cover companies we hold positions in, we disclose at the top of the article.
Our analytical detectors operate uniformly across all outlets we ingest — we don't exclude an outlet from genome mapping or echo detection because it's a partner, an advertiser, or a friend.
Sourcing
We do not pay sources. We do not accept embargoed access from PR firms in exchange for favorable framing. When we use a wire-service article we mark it WIRE so readers know lockstep coverage from wire stories is expected.
Reader contributions
Annotations, reactions, and briefings created by readers are clearly labelled as such and attributed (or marked anonymous, at the reader's choice). They are not editorial content and do not affect bias scores or detector output.
We moderate annotations and briefings for abuse, harassment, and spam. We do not moderate for viewpoint. Verified experts (see the methodology) are marked with an expert badge in topics they've credentialed.
