Secret Service Investigates Iranian Video Threat Against Barron Trump

<p>The U.S. Secret Service confirmed it is aware of a video broadcast on Iranian state media that threatens Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump. Nate Herring, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, stated, "The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees." Herring added, "Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence."</p><p>The video shows locations associated with Barron Trump and concludes with a suggested $10 million reward for information on his whereabouts. Iranian state media has previously aired threats against Trump and his family, particularly following the assassination of Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in 2020.</p><p>Deputy Director of the U.S. Secret Service, Matt Quinn, noted last month, "I don't think it's any secret, it's been in the media, that Iran has publicly said they want to kill President Trump." The video surfaced amid ongoing tensions, including threats from the Trump administration to countries that maintain economic ties with Iran and a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.</p><p>In July, Trump was reported to have switched planes from Air Force One to another aircraft in Turkey due to a credible threat from Iranian surface-to-air missiles. The White House has directed inquiries regarding this matter to the Secret Service.</p>
