Justice Thomas Discusses Relationship with Justice Alito from Law School

<p>Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recently shared a conversation with Justice Samuel Alito regarding their lack of friendship during their time at Yale Law School. When asked why they were not friends, Alito described Thomas as "scary."</p><p>Thomas participated in an interview with Senator Ted Cruz, where they discussed various topics including race and politics, on the "Verdict with Ted Cruz" podcast, which aired on Wednesday.</p><p>During the discussion, Thomas noted that Alito attended Yale a year after him. Cruz remarked, "He was a year behind you. But you didn't know each other." Thomas responded, "He's a funny guy. He's brilliant. He was always nerdy. Princeton guy like you, right?"</p><p>Thomas recounted asking Alito about their time at Yale, saying, "So I said, 'Sam, how come we were there two years together? Why weren't we friends?'" Alito replied, "'Clarence, you were scary.'" Thomas explained that he wore bib overalls and combat boots throughout law school, adding, "I'm so glad they didn't have these phones where you could take a lot of pictures."</p><p>In a separate appearance on "The Will Cain Show," Cruz described Thomas as a "left-wing radical" in college before he shifted to conservatism. Cruz stated, "He journeyed to become an extraordinary thinker. No other justice has overcome so much adversity to reach the very pinnacle of American law."</p>
