Thieves Steal Bronze Age Gold Collection from Villena Museum in Spain

A significant collection of Bronze Age gold artifacts was stolen from the Villena Museum in eastern Spain during a swift early morning heist on August 27, 2026. The theft, which lasted approximately four minutes, involved a group of thieves who managed to take almost the entire Treasure of Villena collection before the museum opened. The alarm was triggered at around 5:20 a.m., according to a spokesman for the town council. The thieves reportedly entered through a window and left the scene in several vehicles. Villena's mayor, Fulgencio Cerdan, expressed devastation over the loss, stating, "They've taken most of the treasure. We are absolutely devastated."
