Dutch Institute Issues Warning About Trump-Shaped Ecstasy Pills Containing PMMA

<p>The Trimbos Institute, a drug treatment and mental health center in the Netherlands, has issued a warning against ecstasy pills shaped like President Donald Trump’s head, stating they could be potentially fatal.</p><p>The institute's "red alert" indicates that the pills contain a high concentration of PMMA (para-methoxymethamfetamine), which is similar to MDMA, the active ingredient in ecstasy, but has a slower onset. This slow effect may lead users to consume more, increasing the risk of overdose.</p><p>The institute provided images of the pills, which are green on one side and yellow on the other, with red and blue on the reverse. The pills feature a likeness of Trump’s face and are marked with the name "Trump" and the letters "NL" on the back.</p><p>"Absolutely do not use these pills," the institute advised.</p><p>In 2018, Indiana State police seized orange Trump-shaped ecstasy pills during an operation against small-time drug traffickers. These pills also displayed Trump’s face and included the phrase "great again," referencing his campaign slogan.</p><p>Additionally, in 2017, German police confiscated thousands of orange Trump-shaped ecstasy pills valued at approximately $46,000.</p><p>As of now, there have been no reported cases of overdoses or fatalities associated with these drugs, according to spokesperson Anniek Groothuis, who noted that there are no known victims with PMMA detected in their blood.</p><p>The clinic mentioned that the pills had been submitted to their centers for testing prior to consumption. While ecstasy remains illegal in the Netherlands, it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of individuals use the drug annually, according to government data.</p>
