Mateu Alemany, Atletico’s director of men’s professional football, stated that Alvarez had not been feeling well but hoped he would be available for the next La Liga match. The La Liga transfer window closes on Tuesday, and speculation continues regarding Alvarez's future, particularly with Barcelona reportedly pursuing him. Atletico chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin accused Barcelona of dishonesty and confirmed that there would be no negotiations regarding Alvarez's transfer to them. The club's statement emphasized their openness to standard transfer negotiations conducted professionally and ethically. Reports from British media suggest that Arsenal could be a potential alternative if they make an offer of around 150 million euros ($174 million). Alvarez previously expressed a desire to play for Barcelona during the World Cup.
