Israeli UN Ambassador's Video Reaches 9 Million Views, Significant Audience in Iran

<p>A video featuring Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Danny Danon, offering a Starlink device to an Iranian representative has garnered approximately 9 million views across social media platforms. Analytics indicate that nearly 40% of its Instagram viewers are located in Iran, as reported by Fox News Digital.</p><p>A representative for Danon expressed surprise at the video's reach within Iran, noting that such engagement is atypical for Israeli diplomatic accounts. "We couldn't imagine to be the popular," the representative stated regarding the video's Iranian viewership.</p><p>The interaction was a result of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the U.N. General Assembly, during which he showcased a Starlink device and directed a message towards the Iranian populace. Following this, Danon approached an Iranian representative with the device, which was declined.</p><p>Danon later shared the encounter on social media, leading to its rapid spread. According to the analytics, 39.9% of viewers were from Iran, followed by the U.S. at 14.3%, Israel at 12.6%, Canada at 5.9%, and Germany at 4.1%.</p><p>The representative from Danon’s office emphasized the significance of the large Iranian audience, interpreting the accompanying message of freedom and expression for the Iranian people as impactful.</p><p>Additionally, as the video circulated, Danon’s office noted a resurgence of a years-old video featuring former Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan being escorted from the General Assembly during a protest against then-Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. This video, originally from September 2023, showed Erdan holding a photograph of Mahsa Amini during Raisi’s speech.</p><p>Some accounts believed to be Iranian have been recirculating this older video, misleadingly portraying it as a recent incident involving Danon. The representative characterized this trend as a "disinformation campaign" aimed at diverting attention from Danon’s video.
