Katie Miller, the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, has received backlash for her comments regarding recent allegations of sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. A CNN report highlighted that over a dozen current and former female staffers reported harassment from lawmakers and senior aides, including inappropriate comments and unwanted advances.
One allegation involved a congressman asking a staffer to participate in a threesome and later attempting to kiss her. Another staffer reported receiving sexually explicit messages from a chief of staff. Many women cited fears of retaliation and damage to their careers as reasons for not formally reporting the incidents.
In her post on X, Katie Miller attributed part of the issue to the culture on Capitol Hill, which she described as one filled with alcohol and late-night parties. She suggested that young women attending these events are aware of the environment and implied that this contributes to the behavior observed.
Miller also noted that the extended time members of Congress spend away from their families may foster inappropriate behavior. Her comments have drawn criticism, with some users on social media expressing outrage at her perspective. The Daily Beast has reached out to Miller for further comment.
