James Carville Critiques Staffers' Complaints About Mary Peltola's Temper

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville criticized staffers who expressed concerns to The New York Times regarding their experiences working for former Alaska Representative Mary Peltola during her Senate campaign. The Times article, titled "Angry Outbursts, Slurs and Firings: Tumult Rocks a Key Senate Campaign," included comments from former aides who reported a chaotic environment in Peltola's congressional office and Senate campaign as she seeks to win a Republican seat. Carville addressed the issue in a video posted to the Politicon channel, stating that the staffers seemed upset about Peltola's behavior under pressure. He remarked, "Of course, The New York Times didn’t understand when you’re in the middle of a political campaign... maybe you don’t have time to be overly courteous to little pussified staffers." He further stated that in political campaigns, staffers do not have a name until they accomplish something significant, suggesting that they should be prepared for the intensity of campaign life. Carville also commented on the scrutiny female candidates face, saying, "Why don’t we just call every female candidate for everything a goddamn b—–? You’d save time." He concluded by advising Democratic staffers to focus on their work and not be overly concerned with their feelings. Doug Schoen, a Democratic strategist, acknowledged the challenges of working in political campaigns but noted that the allegations against Peltola were serious. Former RNC spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko agreed with Carville about the demanding nature of campaign work, stating that it is not suited for everyone.
