Virginia Man Ticketed for Speeding While Rushing for McDonald's Breakfast

A Virginia man was stopped by police on August 16 after he was clocked going 72 mph in a 25 mph zone in Manassas, approximately 40 minutes outside Washington, DC. The man explained to the officer that he was in a hurry to reach McDonald's before the breakfast menu ended. Body camera footage released by the Manassas City Police Department shows the interaction, which occurred at 10:43 a.m. on a Sunday, just before most McDonald's locations switch to lunch at 11 a.m. The officer reminded the man of the dangers of speeding, especially on a motorcycle. The rider expressed surprise at his speed and mentioned that his father was upset about his reckless behavior. He received a ticket for reckless driving and other traffic-related charges. The police department also issued a warning about the dangers of speeding, noting that nationwide, 5,730 motorcyclists died in 2025, with a significant percentage of fatal crashes involving speeding riders. In Virginia, over 100 people died in motorcycle-related crashes in 2025, with speeding contributing to many of those fatalities.
