Harry Kane made his record-equalling 125th appearance for England and contributed to all three goals in a 3-0 victory against Czechia in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday. Kane scored two goals, bringing his international tally to 91, as England secured their third consecutive Nations League win. The match took place at Wembley Stadium, where Kane matched Peter Shilton’s men's appearance record.
England's campaign began with a 3-2 loss to Spain, followed by a 2-0 win over Czechia in Prague and a 7-0 victory against Croatia. Coach Thomas Tuchel made four changes to the lineup, resting players including Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka. Trent Alexander-Arnold returned to the squad for his first appearance at Wembley in two years and made an immediate impact with a free-kick that forced a save from Czech goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek.
The opening goal came in the 27th minute when Czech defender Vladimir Coufal inadvertently scored an own goal from a Kane cross. Elliot Anderson nearly added a second goal shortly after but missed the target. Kane scored his first goal five minutes before halftime, finishing a well-executed team move. He also hit the crossbar early in the second half before scoring again in the 57th minute with a header from a corner taken by Lewis Hall.
Despite several substitutions, Kane remained on the field as he sought a hat-trick and received a standing ovation when he was substituted in the final minutes. With this victory, England is positioned to secure a top-two spot in Group A3, which would advance them to the Nations League quarterfinals in March. They currently have nine points after four matches, three points behind leaders Spain, who defeated Croatia 2-1 on the same night.
