Bull Moose Rescued from Skate Park in Red Lodge, Montana

Residents in Red Lodge, Montana, gathered at a skate park on Wednesday morning after noticing wildlife crews and first responders in the area. The presence of emergency lights led them to believe that someone had been injured.

Upon arrival, they discovered a bull moose standing in the skate park's concrete bowl, which had become stuck and required assistance.

Christian and Laura Stone, who were taking their children to school, stopped to investigate the commotion. While wildlife sightings are common in the area, they did not expect to see a trapped moose.

"I was wondering what was going on. Oftentimes it’s somebody getting hurt over here but not typically a moose," Laura Stone told local outlet KTVQ.

Authorities attempted to help the moose exit the bowl but were unsuccessful and ultimately decided to use a tranquilizer.

Steve Langlas, a local resident, remarked, "We’ve seen a lot of animals in town, never a moose in the bottom of a skate park," as he and his wife Missy observed the situation.

Present at the scene were representatives from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Carbon County Sheriff's Office, Red Lodge Fire Rescue, and the Red Lodge Police.

The skate park and surrounding streets were closed during the incident. The moose, which is believed to be a familiar presence in the town, was safely relocated outside of town after being tranquilized.

Local resident Sam Merrick noted, "The moose is around. It’s kind of known as our local moose. We’d like to see him wandering around or going back into the hills at some point again."

The incident concluded without any injuries, and the moose was safely removed from the skate park.
