Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated during a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that U.S. officials are prioritizing Iran over Ukraine. Zelensky remarked, "Iran is the No. 1 issue for the United States, and only after that comes Ukraine," indicating that Ukraine is not receiving the attention it requires in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Rutte's visit to Ukraine followed a recent Russian drone and missile attack that resulted in at least 13 fatalities and over 100 injuries. In the U.S., a bill proposing more than $1 billion in defense aid and up to $8 billion in direct loans to Ukraine is facing an uncertain future in the Senate.
Zelensky expressed his preference for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating, "We support any format, and I am ready for direct negotiations with Putin to end this war, rather than waiting in line for everyone to end all the conflicts in the world, and then it comes to us."
Rutte warned young Russians about the dangers of military recruitment, stating that they would be poorly equipped and face high risks in combat. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the chances for a negotiated settlement between Ukraine and Russia appear bleak.
