A private investigator has identified a potential suspect in the disappearance of Iowa news anchor Jodi Huisentruit, who went missing on June 27, 1995. Huisentruit did not arrive to anchor the morning news in Mason City, Iowa, leading to a prolonged search by authorities. Despite various theories, her body has never been found, and no charges have been made in connection with her case.
Private investigator Steve Ridge reported receiving a tip regarding a suspect, who allegedly confessed during a heated moment while being followed by authorities in Minnesota. Ridge stated, "[The tipster] was dating a suspect in the case, who eventually, in her presence, confessed..." Ridge has provided evidence to the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, including photos and letters related to the suspect.
Ridge expressed a desire to award a $100,000 reward to anyone who can lead to the recovery of Huisentruit's remains. This development follows the death of John Vansice, the last person known to have seen Huisentruit alive, who passed away in 2024 before the case could be resolved. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation has not commented on the matter.
