The Supreme Court is approaching the end of its term and is set to release rulings in 23 cases, including significant legal issues. Upcoming decisions will address state laws regarding participation of biological men in women's sports, the authority of President Donald Trump to dismiss officials within the executive branch, and various gun laws. Among the cases pending, one from November 2025, 'Landor v. Louisiana Department of Corrections', concerns a Rastafarian man’s ability to sue prison officials for forcing him to shave his dreadlocks, which he claims violates his First Amendment rights.
Additionally, two notable cases from December 2025 include 'NRSC v. FEC', which challenges spending limits between candidates and political parties, and 'Trump v. Slaughter', where Trump seeks to fire an FTC commissioner without cause.
Among the cases from January and February, two significant gun-related cases are 'Wolford v. Lopez', which questions the constitutionality of a Hawaii law restricting gun owners from carrying firearms on private property, and 'United States v. Hemani', which addresses the legality of a federal law prohibiting unlawful drug users from possessing firearms.
Three high-profile cases from March and April include 'Trump v. Barbara', challenging Trump's birthright citizenship order; 'Watson v. RNC', concerning mail ballot laws; and 'Mullin v. Doe', regarding the termination of temporary protected status for Haiti and Syria.
The Supreme Court plans to release opinions on June 11, with additional opinion days likely to be scheduled as the term concludes. In previous years, the Court has added extra opinion days in June to accommodate remaining cases. So far this term, the Court has issued 35 rulings, with over half being unanimous. The next term is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026.
