Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has indicated that he is unlikely to run for president again in 2028. During an interview with Robert Costa at the National Press Club, Sanders humorously addressed the topic, referencing his age and the desire for younger leadership. He stated, "I suspect that’s not going to happen," when asked about the possibility of another presidential run. Sanders, who will be 87 by the time of the 2028 elections, acknowledged his age, saying, "I know I look like I’m 30; I am not. And that’s that."
In the interview, Sanders also expressed support for Graham Platner's candidacy for the Senate from Maine, in response to allegations against Platner. Additionally, he praised social activist Eugene Debs and criticized World War I, describing it as "one of those stupid, endless wars we should never have gotten into," drawing parallels to current conflicts.
