Iran's national soccer team has accused the United States of revoking its allocation of World Cup tickets for Iranian fans just days before the tournament begins. The Iranian soccer federation stated that the US's actions obstructed the presence of Iranian supporters at the matches, which are set to take place in California. They noted that many fans had already made plans based on the official ticket allocation process.
Typically, each country participating in the World Cup receives 8% of the tickets for their matches, but Iran's allocation was reportedly canceled. The involvement of FIFA in this decision remains unclear. The Iranian players are currently staying in Mexico, as the US denied them a place to stay in Tucson, Arizona, and they must leave US territory on the same day as their matches. While the players received visas, several staff members did not due to security concerns linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran's first match is against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 12, followed by matches against Belgium and Egypt.
