A group of 19 survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse has publicly opposed Todd Blanche's nomination as the permanent Attorney General by President Donald Trump. They expressed concerns regarding Blanche's involvement in White House meetings that focused on managing the political fallout from the Epstein files, rather than pursuing justice for survivors. The survivors criticized Blanche for minimizing issues related to the handling of the Epstein files, including problematic redactions and the exposure of personal information of survivors. They emphasized the need for an Attorney General who prioritizes truth, transparency, and accountability.
In response, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson stated that President Trump has taken significant steps for Epstein's victims, including releasing thousands of documents and supporting the Epstein Files Transparency Act. House Oversight Chair James Comer has indicated plans for Blanche to testify before his committee in July as part of the ongoing investigation into the Epstein matter. Comer has also met with Epstein survivors, who expressed their concerns about the accuracy of witness testimonies and the need for formal oaths during interviews. The House Oversight Committee aims to ensure transparency and accountability regarding the federal government's handling of the Epstein and Maxwell cases.
