A search group from Nogales, Mexico, began searching for Nancy Guthrie's remains this week after receiving an anonymous tip indicating that her body may be buried in the Mariposa area near the Arizona-Mexico border. This search follows her abduction from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, which has led to a significant investigation and raised national concerns.
The search effort is being led by the private group Buscando Corazones Nogales, which specializes in missing-person searches. Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, the leader of the group, stated that the anonymous tip suggested Guthrie's body was buried near a stream in Mariposa. The Pima County Sheriff’s office confirmed they have not been contacted by Mexican authorities regarding this tip.
Ayala Ortiz reported that the group conducted an initial search of the area but did not find any remains. However, they plan to continue searching for Guthrie. The Pima County Sheriff’s office stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Savannah Guthrie, Nancy's daughter and a host on the Today show, has publicly requested help in finding her mother and is offering a reward of $1 million for information leading to her discovery. Nancy Guthrie was 84 years old at the time of her disappearance.
