A Florida man was arrested following a high-speed chase that involved abandoning a child. On June 13, 2026, deputies attempted to stop 24-year-old Jason Kenon, who was driving with an adult passenger and two children aged 1 and 4, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Kenon fled, zigzagging through traffic in Orlando while being pursued by police on the ground and monitored by a sheriff's helicopter.
The helicopter footage showed Kenon crashing into another vehicle and then stopping in a residential area, where he let the adult passenger and the 1-year-old child exit the car. The 4-year-old child was unable to exit before Kenon drove off again. He later stopped, removed the child from the backseat, and ran away from the police, leaving the child behind. The child was later recovered by deputies, unharmed.
Kenon faces seven charges, including aggravated fleeing and eluding, two counts of child neglect, leaving the scene of a crash, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. In December 2025, he was sentenced to 94 days in jail for previous charges of burglary and felony grand theft. The specific warrants for which he was being pursued at the time of this incident have not been disclosed.
