America250 Reveals Artifacts for Time Capsule to Be Buried in Philadelphia

America250, a nonpartisan organization overseeing the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations, announced the items that will be included in a time capsule to be buried in Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia. The capsule will be sealed on July 4, 2026, and is intended to be opened in 2276. Among the artifacts are a diamond from Arkansas, a whale bone from Maine, a bolo tie from New Mexico, and an iPhone 17 Pro Max. Contributions have come from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and various organizations. Items include commemorative coins, letters from state leaders, and a recipe card for the state cookie of New Mexico. Notable contributions also include a Coca-Cola bottle, a 2026 Olympic Gold Medal, and a signed copy of the pocket Constitution by all living Supreme Court justices. The capsule has been sealed by workers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
