Sir Ian McKellen, an acclaimed stage and screen actor, revealed that he drew inspiration from President Donald Trump while filming the upcoming Marvel movie, *Avengers: Doomsday*. McKellen, 87, known for his roles as Gandalf in *The Lord of the Rings* and Magneto in the *X-Men* franchise, will reprise his role as Magneto in the film, which is set to be released on December 18, 2026, and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
During a recent appearance at the Cinema in Piazza festival in Rome, McKellen shared insights about the film with an audience of 2,000. He described a scene where his character destroys New Jersey, stating that the directors encouraged him to portray anger on camera. He recounted shouting "Mar-a-Lago!" during the scene to convey the necessary emotion.
McKellen has previously expressed his critical views of Trump, describing him as an "absolute bewilderment" and criticizing his public speaking abilities. He has also commented on Trump's actions regarding LGBTQ rights, stating that they were "quite unnecessary and very un-American." McKellen first portrayed Magneto in the 2000 film *X-Men* and is also set to reprise his role as Gandalf in the upcoming *The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum*.
