A recent Fox News Poll reveals that voters now perceive Big Tech as a greater threat to the future of the United States than Big Government, marking a notable change from previous years. Currently, 52% of respondents view Big Tech as the larger threat, compared to 47% who see Big Government as more concerning. This represents a 28-point shift since 2019, when 58% expressed more concern about government compared to 35% about tech companies.

The poll, conducted by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research, shows that this shift in perception spans most demographic groups, with exceptions including very conservative voters and mothers, who still regard Big Government as the greater threat. The views of Republicans and independents are divided on this issue.

Chris Anderson, a Democratic pollster involved in the survey, noted that as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more integrated into daily life, voters are reassessing where power is concentrated. Concerns about government overreach are increasingly directed toward tech companies, with voters questioning whether the rapid growth of these companies has led to excessive power without public accountability.

Opinions on AI are varied; 14% of voters describe it as either innovative or helpful, while an equal percentage view it as a bad idea. A smaller percentage express caution (12%), fear (10%), or mixed feelings (9%). The number of voters expressing fear of AI has decreased from 16% in 2023 to 10% currently, with older voters remaining the most apprehensive.

Daily usage of AI technology has increased, with 18% of voters reporting they use it every day, up from 11% last June. However, many voters still rarely (21%) or never (32%) use AI. There is significant opposition to the construction of AI data centers, with 67% of voters opposing such developments in their local areas.

The poll was conducted from June 12-15, 2026, with a sample size of 1,002 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points.
