A recent AP-NORC poll indicates that most Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump's handling of Iran, with 65% of U.S. adults expressing dissatisfaction. The poll was conducted from June 11 to June 17, coinciding with Trump's announcement of a deal with Iran and the cessation of the U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump's overall approval rating remains at 37%, consistent with a previous poll conducted in May. The findings reveal a partisan divide, as only 28% of Republicans disapprove of Trump's actions regarding Iran, compared to the majority of Democrats and independents.
Despite the announcement of a deal, which includes provisions for Iran to sell oil and resume discussions about its nuclear program, some Republicans expressed disappointment with the agreement's focus. The poll also shows that 53% of Americans believe military action against Iran has gone too far, a slight decrease from 59% in March. Additionally, only about one-third of U.S. adults approve of Trump's handling of Israel and the economy, with 34% and approximately 33% approval ratings, respectively. The poll surveyed 3,040 adults and has a margin of error that reflects its representative nature of the U.S. population.
