Putin Enhances Moscow's Defense Following Ukrainian Drone Strikes

Russian President Vladimir Putin has recalled frontline defense systems to bolster security in Moscow after a series of Ukrainian drone strikes targeted the city. The defense systems have been positioned atop an oil refinery that supplies up to 40 percent of Moscow's fuel and is located less than 10 miles from the Kremlin. This decision follows a significant drone attack on June 18, which was the largest to hit Moscow during the ongoing conflict, reportedly damaging the refinery. Additionally, drone activity has disrupted operations at all four major airports in Moscow. Last month, a drone attack resulted in an explosion near a luxury apartment building located four miles from the Kremlin. Ukrainian hackers also recently compromised the Telegram account of Moscow's Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, posting messages that included threats against the city. President Zelensky remarked on the situation, suggesting that Putin is showing signs of weakness and may respond by increasing attacks on Ukrainian cities.
