Prince William's net worth through the Duchy of Cornwall has been reported at £1.2 billion, making him wealthier than King Charles III. The Duchy accounts, published recently, indicate that William has paid over £20 million in taxes since becoming Prince of Wales. In the fiscal year 2025-26, he received a private income of £21.6 million. King Charles III's personal fortune is listed at £640 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
William's tax contributions included £7.76 million in income and capital gains tax for 2024-25 and £8.34 million for 2023-24. Additionally, he has opted to forgo personal benefits from the £1.5 million annual rent from the now-abandoned Dartmoor Prison, directing that income instead towards community regeneration efforts in Princetown, where the prison is located. The Duchy signed a £37 million lease deal with the Ministry of Justice in 2022 to lease Dartmoor Prison, which has been closed since July 2024 due to safety concerns related to radon gas.
Kensington Palace also reported an increase in the number of staff employed by William and Kate's household, rising from 68 to 74, with a noted increase in diversity among staff members.
