The Maine Senate race is currently competitive, with Republican incumbent Senator Susan Collins holding a slight lead over Democratic candidate Graham Platner, according to a Fox News poll conducted from June 23-27, 2026. Collins has the support of 50% of registered voters, while Platner has 47%. However, among voters who are extremely motivated to vote, Platner leads by 9 points, 53% to 44%. The poll indicates that 76% of Democrats describe themselves as highly motivated to vote compared to 61% of Republicans.
Concerns about both candidates are prevalent among voters. Over half of respondents believe Platner lacks the judgment to serve as a U.S. senator, while a similar proportion thinks Collins has been in office too long. Nearly 40% express extreme concern about Platner's judgment, compared to 30% regarding Collins' tenure. Support for Collins is stronger among men, voters without a college degree, gun owners, and rural voters, while Platner is preferred by women, college-educated voters, suburban voters, and moderates.
The poll also highlights that inflation is the most important issue for Maine voters, followed by political divisions, healthcare, and immigration. Collins has a slightly negative favorability rating at 47%, while Platner's rating is more negative at 43%. In the gubernatorial race, Democratic candidate Hannah Pingree leads Republican Bobby Charles by 11 points among registered voters. The poll has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
