Seven members of an Antifa cell were sentenced on July 1, 2026, for their involvement in an attack on a federal immigration detention facility in North Texas. The incident occurred on July 4, 2025, when the group allegedly lured Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers out of the Prairieland Detention Center by setting off fireworks before opening fire on them.
Prosecutors stated that the group had flyers with messages against ICE and had vandalized property with phrases targeting law enforcement. Ines Soto received a 50-year prison sentence for multiple charges, including rioting and providing material support to terrorists. Joy “Rowan” Gibson and Rebecca Morgan were each sentenced to 15 years. Four other individuals connected to the attack received sentences ranging from 22 months to six years after cooperating with prosecutors.
Previously, eight other members of the group were sentenced, including Benjamin Hanil Song, who received a 100-year sentence for shooting an Alvarado police officer during the ambush. Approximately 20 to 30 rounds were reportedly fired at law enforcement during the incident. The defense argued that the defendants intended to conduct a peaceful protest and noise demonstration using fireworks to express solidarity with detainees held by ICE.
