Firefighters in Seattle responded to a 3-alarm fire at a commercial warehouse in the Industrial District early Wednesday morning. The fire began shortly before 1 a.m. local time on the 4500 block of 7th Avenue S, involving two tractor trailers that were on fire and spreading to the warehouse, according to Seattle Fire spokesman David Cuerpo.
Officials discovered multiple large metal and plastic barrels inside one of the trailers and around the building, leading them to extinguish the fire from a safe distance. Upon inspection, the barrels were found to be empty. The roof of the warehouse partially collapsed at 1:15 a.m., which hindered personnel from entering the building. The fire was extinguished around 3:22 a.m., and no injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with Cuerpo confirming it was accidental.
This incident follows another fire that occurred on Tuesday morning in a commercial building approximately 20 minutes away on the 2700 block of E Madison St. in the Central District, which was extinguished by 5:30 a.m.
