The Freedom Fuel Network launched with 25 gas stations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, advertising gasoline prices starting at $3.47 per gallon. The stations feature patriotic imagery and were marketed as a means to provide relief to drivers following rising gasoline prices due to the war in Iran.
Former President Donald Trump praised the initiative, stating that the retailer was lowering prices voluntarily. The White House has emphasized that the company is privately operated and denied any federal funding or subsidies, asserting that no other entity is subsidizing the lower gasoline costs.
Despite the administration's statements, industry analysts have questioned the long-term viability of the discounted prices, with some noting that refining capacity, rather than crude oil supply, is currently the primary constraint affecting fuel prices.
