In contrast, 36% report being better off, and 19% feel their financial situation has remained the same. The poll, released on July 16, 2026, also found that 52% of voters believe the national economy is worsening, up from 47% in February. Among political affiliations, 43% of Republicans think the economy is improving, while 87% of Democrats believe it is getting worse.
In the upcoming governor's race, incumbent Democrat Josh Shapiro has 53% support, down from 55% in February, while Republican challenger Stacy Garrity has 40% support, up from 37%. Shapiro's favorability rating stands at 51%, compared to Garrity's 22%. The economy and cost of living are the top issues for voters, with 74% and 73% respectively prioritizing these concerns.
Regarding job approval, 56% of voters approve of Shapiro's performance as governor, while 48% approve of U.S. Senator John Fetterman. However, 52% of voters would prefer Fetterman to leave the Democratic Party. In terms of former President Donald Trump's approval, 39% approve of his performance, with 58% disapproving. Additionally, 49% of voters would prefer the Democratic Party to control the U.S. House of Representatives.
On the topic of AI data centers, 76% of voters are following news about them closely, and 74% oppose building such a facility in their community, an increase from 68% in February.
