Spencer Pratt, a candidate in the upcoming Los Angeles mayoral election, has seen an increase in support according to recent polls. He has criticized current Mayor Karen Bass for perceived government incompetence and its impact on quality of life issues. During an appearance on Fox News's 'Gutfeld!', Pratt expressed that he is receiving backing from mothers concerned about safety in their neighborhoods.
Pratt stated, "Yes, the people I’m surging with are the people having to step over the naked drug addicts and step into human poop to get their $20 matcha." He emphasized the need for safe environments for families, referencing the challenges faced by mothers in Los Angeles.
One of Pratt's key campaign issues is the Palisades Fires of 2025, which he claims were exacerbated by Bass's administration. The fires caused extensive damage across 37 square miles, affecting thousands of structures, including Pratt's home. He has attributed the severity of the destruction to Bass's alleged negligence, stating, "Is anybody who was devastated by the fires still voting for Karen Bass, and what is wrong with them?"
Pratt also criticized Bass for her handling of wildfire protection resources, asserting that her administration drained reservoirs meant for this purpose. He expressed frustration that his message about the fires is not resonating with some voters.
In discussing his campaign, Pratt noted that he prefers support from everyday citizens rather than celebrity endorsements, stating, "I don’t want anybody to endorse me except for the moms and the animal lovers in L.A."
Recent polling indicates a competitive race, with Bass leading at 26%, followed closely by city councilmember Nithya Raman at 25%, and Pratt at 22%. Both Bass and Raman have seen an increase in support since the last survey conducted in March.
