A man wearing a Chucky-style mask allegedly threatened a female jogger in Center City Philadelphia, according to police reports. The incidents occurred early Wednesday morning, starting around 5:20 a.m. on August 12, when the suspect approached at least six individuals randomly near Philadelphia City Hall.
The suspect first entered a Dunkin' Donuts, where staff refused him service due to erratic behavior. He then began to approach people while holding a cell phone, seemingly recording them. One of the victims, a 40-year-old woman jogging near 1500 JFK Boulevard, reported that the man asked her, "Are you ready to die?" before chasing her as she screamed for help, resulting in a leg injury during her escape.
Although no weapon was visible in the surveillance footage, police have stated that the suspect is wanted on multiple charges, including possession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, harassment, assault, reckless endangerment, and intimidation.
A witness, Jameka, attempted to intervene and confronted the suspect, stating that he appeared disoriented. The suspect eventually fled into SEPTA Suburban Station.
Police describe the suspect as a black male aged between 16 and 20, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build, and carrying a black-and-blue plaid backpack. Investigators believe he approached multiple people that morning, but only the jogger has formally reported an incident.
Authorities have released footage and images of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS or submit a tip through their website. Members of the public have been advised not to approach the suspect.
