Former Acting U.S. Attorney Andrew Haden Found Dead in San Diego Federal Building

Andrew Haden, a former twice-acting U.S. attorney, was found dead on August 21, 2026, in the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building in downtown San Diego. Haden, 48, had previously headed the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California. Police responded to the scene after he was reported missing, and the San Diego Police Department stated that no foul play is suspected. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California, Adam Gordon, expressed condolences, describing Haden as a person of integrity and commitment to the community. Haden joined the U.S. attorney's office in 2010 and served as acting U.S. attorney in 2023 and 2025. He was a Navy veteran and earned his law degree from the University of San Diego.
