President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he wishes to be the main act at the Freedom 250 celebration after a significant number of artists withdrew from the event. He stated, "I understand artists are getting 'the yips' having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the world." Trump referred to himself in the third person, claiming he attracts larger audiences than Elvis Presley did in his prime.
The event, which is part of the Great American State Fair scheduled for June 25 to July 10, has seen two-thirds of its musical lineup cancel their appearances, including notable artists like Martina McBride and Bret Michaels. Trump expressed his intention to hold an "AMERICA IS BACK" rally in Washington, D.C., at the same time and location as the Freedom 250 event.
In his posts, Trump criticized the artists who dropped out, stating, "I don’t want so-called 'Artists' that get paid far too much money, who aren’t happy." He indicated that the event was initially presented to artists as a non-partisan celebration, which some artists found misleading.
The Freedom 250 organization has stated that they remain committed to delivering a significant experience on the National Mall. The White House has also shared Trump's announcement on social media, promoting the rally as an "AMERICA IS BACK Rally!"
