The song, which has become a meme following Kirk's assassination, was described as resembling a Christian power ballad. Piker remarked that the experience felt surreal and later referenced the performance in a social media post. Critics, including Turning Point spokesman Andrew Kolvet, condemned Piker's actions, labeling them as 'pure, unadulterated evil.' Democratic strategist Jon Reinish also criticized Piker, stating he is 'wrong for the Democratic Party.'
