Mark Ruffalo Responds to Accusations of Antisemitism from Paramount Skydance

Actor Mark Ruffalo has responded to accusations from media company Paramount Skydance, which claimed that his comments regarding its merger with Warner Bros Discovery contained 'antisemitic tropes.' Ruffalo criticized the merger, valued at $111 billion, and highlighted the role of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in the transaction. He pointed out Oracle's long-standing contracts with the Israel Defense Forces and shared a video of Oracle executive Safra Catz discussing technology provided to Israel after a recent attack by Hamas. Ruffalo contended that his criticism of the merger and its implications for the entertainment industry should not be misconstrued as hostility towards Jewish people. In response, Paramount stated that invoking antisemitic tropes in a business dispute is troubling and undermines the real suffering associated with such terms. The merger is currently on hold pending a federal judge's review of an antitrust lawsuit from a coalition of 12 US states.
