Grant Siler, a 72-year-old man from Bullhead City, Arizona, is scheduled for an above-knee amputation of his right leg on August 31, following a heat-related incident earlier this month. On August 3, Siler collapsed while walking in temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit, causing his body temperature to rise above 105 degrees. He remained on the ground for approximately one hour before being discovered by a passerby.
Siler was subsequently taken to a burn ICU in Las Vegas, where medical staff diagnosed him with heat stroke, organ shock, and severe burns. According to updates from his family’s GoFundMe page, doctors found that the tissue in his right leg was severely damaged and unlikely to heal fully. He has undergone two debridement procedures and is currently experiencing significant pain.
His wife, Vicki, has been commuting to support him while managing the family's financial obligations. The family is seeking donations to cover medical expenses and home renovations related to Siler's recovery.
