SpaceX plans $100 billion investment in Louisiana spaceport development

<p>Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry announced on Tuesday that SpaceX will invest $100 billion to develop Starship factories and launch pads in coastal Louisiana. The company aims to replicate its Starbase facility in southern Texas on a larger scale.</p><p>This announcement follows months of speculation regarding SpaceX's interest in a large parcel of land along the Gulf coast of Louisiana, which provides space for multiple launch towers and access to methane propellant used for the Starship rocket.</p><p>Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, stated that the "Starbase Louisiana" facility would be a self-sustaining spaceport, featuring propellant production, power generation, deep-water shipping capabilities, vehicle processing facilities, and an airport on site.</p>
