Maine Senate Candidate's Wife Reports Finding Explicit Texts on His Phone

Amy Gertner, the wife of Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, informed campaign aides that she discovered sexually explicit text messages on Platner's phone after he announced his candidacy last year. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Gertner revealed this information during opposition research and requested a campaign aide to review the messages, which were reportedly sent to several women, to assess potential campaign liabilities. Gertner believed she was sharing this information with a trusted friend. The couple has since discussed the messages in marriage counseling. In a statement provided by the Platner campaign, Gertner expressed that their marriage has grown stronger through their challenges, including their fertility journey. She stated, "I know who Graham is. I know the man I married and the husband he has been to me on the best and the worst days of my life. That hasn’t changed, and it won’t." Platner and Gertner were married in 2024.
