Police Respond to Confrontation at LGBTQ Press Conference During Track Meet

A press conference organized by California LGBTQ advocacy groups Pride at the Pier and Rainbow Families Action took place outside the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) state championship in Clovis, where trans athlete AB Hernandez is competing in three girls' jumping events. The event escalated when a group of 'Save Girls Sports' activists confronted the LGBTQ supporters, leading to a verbal altercation. Clovis Police Department officers were present to monitor the situation but did not intervene directly as the confrontation subsided. The Clovis Police Department declined to comment on the incident. Activist Beth Bourne, who led the counterprotest, expressed concerns about fairness in sports, while pro-LGBTQ activist Daisy Gardner encouraged Bourne to seek understanding and healing.
