Two Arrested for Alleged Burglary of Home of Victims Killed in Kenya Helicopter Crash

<p>Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Pavon Perdomo, 24, were arrested on August 25 for allegedly burglarizing a South Florida townhome belonging to Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, who died in a helicopter crash in Kenya on August 19. Garcia is a U.S. citizen, while Perdomo is subject to an immigration detainer.</p><p>The couple is accused of stealing two luxury vehicles, personal documents, jewelry, and artwork, including a sculpture valued at over $500,000. The property is appraised at nearly $3 million.</p><p>The helicopter crash occurred while flying from the Loisaba Conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro area in Samburu County, and the cause is under investigation. The U.S. State Department confirmed that five of the deceased were U.S. citizens, including Miami restaurateur Roger Duarte and José Suárez, a media executive.</p><p>According to police, the couple had left their home on August 12 and arranged for a housekeeper to visit daily. Investigators found that the home was intact after their deaths. Between August 20 and August 22, the residence was entered, and various items were stolen, including a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover and a 2020 Porsche Taycan.</p><p>Police utilized Apple's Find My service to trace a stolen MacBook to a residence in northwest Miami-Dade. Officers discovered both stolen vehicles parked nearby and found Garcia hiding in a closet and Perdomo in an upstairs bedroom.</p><p>The officers recovered documents belonging to the victims, a key fob for the Range Rover, and several valuable artworks, along with materials consistent with producing or altering fraudulent identification documents. Garcia faces charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, two counts of grand theft of a vehicle, and first-degree grand theft. Perdomo is charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and two counts of first-degree grand theft. Their arraignments are scheduled for September 28.</p><p>Fox News Digital has requested additional information from ICE, and an attorney for Garcia and Perdomo was not immediately available.</p>
