Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been charged with one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of criminal damage to property following an alleged physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend at his Wisconsin home. District Attorney David L. Lasee stated that surveillance footage corroborates the woman's account provided to officers regarding the May 23 incident.
The ex-girlfriend, referred to as "ANM" in the incident report, reported that Jacobs grabbed her and threw her to the ground, causing her to hit her head and sustain an injury. She also claimed that Jacobs took her phone while she was on the ground. The report indicates that ANM struggled to walk back into the house after the incident.
Lasee noted that the security camera footage from the garage shows the events described, including both ANM and Jacobs leaving and returning to the residence, as well as Jacobs taking ANM's phone from the floor and later appearing to damage it.
The altercation reportedly began after ANM accused Jacobs of "talking to other girls." She sustained a bump on the back of her head and expressed that she was in pain, according to the incident report.
Jacobs turned himself in three days after the incident. His attorneys stated that the Brown County District Attorney reviewed the evidence and decided to file misdemeanor charges that do not include domestic violence. They emphasized that the allegations will be addressed in court.
The Packers have acknowledged the incident and are cooperating with the NFL, which is monitoring the situation as it remains under review. Jacobs, who has been participating in training camp and the preseason, may face further consequences from the league if the surveillance footage is released.
This situation draws parallels to the case of former NFL running back Ray Rice, whose career ended after a video surfaced showing him assaulting his then-fiancée in 2014, leading to significant disciplinary actions from the NFL.
