<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rep. <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/jasmine-crockett/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jasmine Crockett</a> (D-TX) is not planning to campaign for former primary opponent <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/james-talarico/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">James Talarico</a> as he runs against Texas Attorney General <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/ken-paxton/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ken Paxton</a> for the U.S. Senate.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Crockett stated on CNN’s <em>Laura Coates Live</em> that she will be focusing on downballot campaigning and will not appear with Talarico.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During her interview, Crockett highlighted the importance of motivating voters across <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/texas/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Texas</a> on Election Day, expressing her intention to amplify candidates who may be overshadowed.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Crockett also noted a lack of excitement among black voters in Texas for the current election cycle.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Earlier this year, Crockett lost to Talarico by 6 points in the Democratic Senate primary. Following her defeat, she has publicly described the primary race as a “<a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jul/9/jasmine-crockett-calls-texas-senate-primary-loss-racist-race/?srsltid=AfmBOooQIL7Osqhlka4eIzzowR3pj-FkBpR9FcWzz0ES1DDvTUP4Y0yR" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">racist race</a>.”</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A <a href="https://texaspublicopinionresearch.substack.com/p/new-poll-in-texas-general-election" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">new poll</a> from Texas Public Opinion Research indicates Talarico holds a 6-point lead. The poll shows Paxton leading among white voters and those over 55, while Talarico leads among black voters, Latino voters, younger voters, college-educated voters, and women.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Democrats are striving to secure a Senate seat in Texas for the first time since 1988.</p>
