Milo Yiannopoulos in ICE Custody Facing Removal Order

Washington — Political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos is currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facing a final order of removal, according to U.S. officials and agency records. Yiannopoulos, a British national, was apprehended in the New Orleans area and is being held in a Louisiana ICE facility. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Yiannopoulos entered the U.S. legally in 2019 but overstayed his visa, violating immigration laws. The DHS spokesperson noted that Yiannopoulos received a final order of removal from an immigration judge on July 22, after he failed to attend his immigration hearing. He will remain in ICE custody pending his removal. Reports indicate that Yiannopoulos was in New Orleans for a concert featuring the artist formerly known as Kanye West, now known as Ye. TMZ first reported on Yiannopoulos' custody status. The DHS spokesperson mentioned that individuals in detention have the option to use the CBP Home App to facilitate their departure and highlighted that the U.S. is offering $3,000 and a free flight for self-deportation. Yiannopoulos has previously supported ICE's immigration enforcement efforts, advocating for measures such as ICE checkpoints and legal immunity for ICE agents. He has made statements emphasizing the need to deport large numbers of individuals in the U.S. illegally.
