Indiana Fever Defeats Connecticut Sun Before FIBA World Cup Break

<p>The WNBA is pausing for a couple of weeks to allow players to compete in the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. Before this break, the Indiana Fever faced the Connecticut Sun.</p><p>Caitlin Clark and the Fever entered the game aiming to build on their previous victory against the Chicago Sky, where they won 113-90. The Sun were looking for only their 11th win of the season.</p><p>Despite a challenging season, Connecticut started strong, leading 28-19 after the first quarter.</p><p>However, the Fever responded effectively, outscoring the Sun 39-15 in the second quarter to take a 58-43 lead at halftime.</p><p>The third quarter included a notable assist from Clark to Kelsey Mitchell, contributing to Mitchell's total of 34 points, which placed her at the top of the league for total points scored.</p><p>Clark also scored 34 points, marking their fourth instance this season of both players scoring over 30 points in a game, setting a WNBA record for the most such games by a pair of teammates in a single season.</p><p>The Fever won the game 111-91, extending their franchise record for 100-plus-point games in a season to 19.</p><p>With only four games remaining in the regular season, Indiana's next game is scheduled for September 18 against the Toronto Tempo.</p>
