New footage shows residents fleeing moments before floodwaters inundate a settlement in the Rasuwa region of Nepal on Wednesday. The six-minute video captures locals escaping on foot and in vehicles as the water begins to surge. As the danger becomes apparent, residents scramble to reach safety before the flood engulfs the streets. Later, the same streets are seen transformed into rivers as floodwaters carry debris and create large splashes. Those who escaped are seen sheltering in buildings, watching as muddy water rushes past their homes. In the aftermath, one individual was seen signaling for rescue from a rooftop of one of the few buildings that remained standing. Officials have described the situation in Nepal as one of 'devastation beyond imagination' following a glacier collapse that caused a significant influx of water, with reports indicating that the floodwaters surged as high as 650 feet. The disaster has left 1,924 people missing and resulted in at least 579 fatalities, marking one of the worst natural disasters in the country in recent memory. Among the missing are 33 British nationals, including a 13-year-old girl from Surrey. Concerns grew when a lake formed by avalanche debris burst its banks, raising fears of another tsunami. Helicopter rescue operations were temporarily halted as locals sought higher ground, but Chinese authorities later deemed the risk manageable, allowing rescues to resume. The lake, located upstream in Tibet, held approximately two million cubic meters of water and was expected to receive an additional three million cubic meters over the next three days.
