Florida man survives shark attack with help from nearby boaters

A man in Florida was attacked by a seven-foot shark while fishing in shallow water at a sandbar in Key West on August 23. Dave Daniel, 43, reported that he would have died without the assistance of nearby boaters who provided life-saving help. Daniel described the incident, stating that he saw a significant amount of blood in the water after being bitten by what he believes was a nurse shark. He attempted to move away, but the shark quickly approached and bit his legs. After the attack, Daniel recalled feeling resigned to his fate while bleeding on the beach. Fortunately, two boaters, who were medical professionals, arrived to assist him. One of the boaters, Courtney McMurrary, noted that she was in the right place at the right time. They provided support until the US Coast Guard arrived and airlifted Daniel to a Miami hospital, where he underwent two surgeries. Daniel was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday but is currently limited in movement due to his injuries. He expressed gratitude for his survival and acknowledged the importance of every moment in life. However, he indicated that he does not plan to return to the water anytime soon.
