Edgardo Henriquez Records Fastest Strikeout Pitch in Dodgers History Against Tigers

<p>Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edgardo Henriquez threw a 103.6 mph pitch, marking a significant achievement in his career. In the eighth inning against the Detroit Tigers, Henriquez's front-door sinker froze catcher Dillon Dingler for a called third strike, which Dingler challenged.</p><p>The television broadcaster announced, "Got him looking! A 104-mile-per-hour sinker." Statcast confirmed that Henriquez’s sinker was clocked at 103.6 mph with a spin rate of 2,439 rpm.</p><p>According to MLB pitch-tracking data from 2008, this was the fastest strikeout pitch ever thrown by a Dodgers pitcher. The record-setting pitch was a highlight in the Dodgers' 2-1 loss to the Tigers.</p><p>Henriquez has recorded 14 of the Dodgers’ 16 fastest strikeout pitches and 22 of the team’s fastest pitches overall. His 103.6 mph sinker matched a career high he achieved during a June 2 matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks.</p><p>Baseball Savant lists Henriquez’s average sinker speed at 100.8 mph this season, while his four-seam fastball averages 100.5 mph. Unlike most relievers who aim for 100 mph, Henriquez consistently operates at that level.</p><p>His ability to throw at such high speeds gained attention last August when he threw a 103.3 mph four-seam fastball to Ryan O’Hearn, matching Jonathan Broxton’s Dodgers-era tracking record. A year later, Henriquez has surpassed that mark.</p><p>The decisive rubber game of the Dodgers and Tigers’ three-game series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.</p>
